Pearl, with her husband Carl Butler, became one of the leading duet teams in the Sixties.  One of their greatest hits was “Don’t Let Me Cross Over,” which reached # 1 in 1962-3.  Carl and Pearl joined the Grand Ole Opry as a duo in 1962.  Their popularity gave rise to the success of several duos for the next 30 years.  The Butlers toured America and Canada and were regulars on such TV shows as the syndicated “The Porter Wagoner Show.”  They appeared in the movie “Second Fiddle to a Steel Guitar,” in 1967.
