Story Behind The Song … “My Woman, My Woman, My Wife”

June 6, 2010

According to Marty Robbins, his 1970 number one, “My Woman, My Woman, my Wife,” was written for,  and about his wife, Marizona.  Marty said, “I wrote that song strictly for my wife. I had these thoughts on my mind for quite some time, things that I had wanted to say to her, words that I wanted her to hear from me, and the things I believe most men want to say to their wives.  And I finally got around to putting those thoughts and feelings into words that became that song.”  “And my wife is everything that I said in that song.”

Marty wrote “My Woman, My Woman, my Wife” in 1968.  The record entered the country music charts February 21, 1970 and climbed to number one.  It was his 53rd chart single and was on the charts for 17 weeks.  The record also scored a # 42 on the pop music charts.
